When Biomass was first spoken of, wasn’t it supposed to be HUMAN WASTE? I mean yes trees are easier to burn. There are several steps that have to be gone through To make human waste usable. In fact part of the process is a drying out that takes time. Who wants to work in these plants. But the idea that we send people into deep underground caves that is good? These caves fill with gases. The part of this thing that is true, has to do with our inability to stop procreating. Why are there families of 5 or 8? why? My family is nearly gone because we have all held with the wrongness of overpopulation. There are about ten of us in my generation meanwhile we have not even made that many children. Several have made the choice to not have children. I had two only enough to reproduce my husband and myself. That was only after both my sisters and brother opted out. Yes we like all others want our genetic material to be carried into the future yet we are aware that the planet can not handle more. I wanted a large family. I love children. My sisters love children. We made choices. Now what would you have us sacrifice. So you who have way too many offspring can survive? Already my oldest has made the sacrifice and he is thirty. I was hoping each of my sons would only replace themselves. My oldest told me at 25 he was not having children. He’d told me many times before but this was when he had met the woman he was going to be with. They had made a life choice. Several of his friends had made the same choice. It was a sort of pact they made. The world was overpopulated and they don’t want to add to that problem. That is about 6 young men and their wives or partners who have made sacrifices.
We are all too greedy. This outcome isn’t just a reflection of the world’s billionaires (although they are certainly guilty), the blame can be laid at all our feet. The path to change comes from awareness of that fact.

Wait…to even « suggest » that the Ivanpah power plant uses more fossil fuels in its construction materials than a plant that burns fossil fuels on a daily basis is utter incompetence. Any powerplant requires a building/structure made out of materials that are not « renewable », including solar and wind structures as well as any fossil fuel plant. The difference is that renewable energy plants use those materials once whereas fossil fuel plants burn fuels all day and night in addition to using materials in their construction. You simply cannot compare construction materials to fuels that are burned for energy. I studied mechanical engineering at Berkeley. It’s shameful to see this guy who went to my school spew nonesense like this.

10 years from now Michael Moore will be producing a documentary on the Big Lie of carbon dioxide caused climate change. Belatedly lamenting the fact that it has led to ignoring a multitude of real environmental issues for 40 years. Trouble is, either through ill informed ignorance, or down right profiteering, he and his ilk are all part of the scam.
I cant think of anything worse than having thousands of miles of solar panels and thousands of wind turbines spoiling the beautiful countryside and coastal areas of our planet, other answers need to be found! Human beings need to be persuaded, somehow, to have less children, the demand on this planet by more and more people is the biggest thing facing us humans, it’s not sustainable! It doesn’t matter what source of power you find! Where does the food come from? Humans are like maggots on an apple! Eating away until there’s nothing left!

I watched this documentary while the world is struggling with a pandemic, which its origin can, in all likelihood, be attributed to the feeding of an over populated segment of our planet. Nature has a way of taking care of itself, and this pandemic is a warning that the worst is yet to come. If we cannot control our species, the planet will do it for us. My assumption is we won’t listen to the warnings and will suffer the consequences. The new normal will be short lived, as it’s replaced by yet another new normal and another, until we, who are left, find ourselves struggling to survive on a planet that has delivered the ultimate smack down.

Ironically the people who are most developed have some understanding of overpopulation and are slowing down on having kids but the least developed (mostly lower IQ areas in the world) have no understanding and still have 6-7-8 kids in the family. Eventually those who understand will have smaller numbers and those who don’t have bigger numbers. Grim outlook if you ask me.

The biggest and most important contribution of this film was its brutal and effective takedown of the biomass industry as a « green » renewable energy source. If this film exposes the hypocrisy of « green » energy production through deforestation, it has made a valuable contribution.

It’s like the ‘right’ has religion and they have a belief in infinite fossil fuels.’ That statement is so wrong! Why are people so ignorant to think that anyone who has a religious belief is ‘on the right’, (because I have many friends at a church I used to attend who were 98% Liberal Democrat’s) and even my friends who are of a more conservative thinking group, non of us believe that fossil fuels are endless!! Stopped watching halfway through documentary. Isn’t worth the hype. Gives justified warnings on a number of points about how mankind is making the world unlivable (which could already be known to us) but often also gives half-truths, outdated examples and simply misleading information. This film reminds me of the sentiments voiced by Norman Borlaug, the ‘father of the Green Revolution’. He said the ‘Green Revolution’, as a means to increase food production, was intended as a stop-gap measure to buy us time so that we could deal with the deeper questions/issues, chief among them being population (as quoted in Seitz, J; Hite, K; ‘Global Issues’ 4th edition Wiley 2011, p. 97). The problem is, we treated this as the answer to the question. Now it’s all catching up with us. We would like to share another story whats happening in Alberta Canada…. They have built hundreds of thousands of windmills all over our province. These windmills sit in the migratory paths of 100’s of bird species. These birds are no longer returning. In fact they are no longer making home. Their lungs and hearts explode when they fly through the negative air pressure cones created by the windmills. Farmers are finding these all over the province surrounding the wind farms. There are snake, gophers and mice infestations. NOBODY IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT THIS TOO.

A disappointing outdated misleading documentary. He lumped clean and non-clean renewables into the same basket and used old and outdated worst-case examples to try to prove his points. Not a single engineer or scientist was interviewed, and Tesla was barely mentioned at all. The film’s solar power plant example in bumfluc nowhere in America was built in 1983 by the local community.
In Australia, having beaten all expectations, Tesla is now expanding it’s Virtual Power Plant project, connecting solar houses into a grid of mini power plants and securing the cities energy supply. Tesla has also built the largest lithium-ion battery in the world storing wind energy and supplying tens of thousands of homes in South Australia. The reason this movie was released earlier than planned and for free on youtube is that each day that goes by Elon Musk is further proving that everything in this video is just a biased history lesson. Seriously, this movie could have been made with stock videos in a week. At this point, Michael Moore is just in it for the controversy to make money.
