En l’absence de vaccin préventif ou d’antiviraux spécifiques pour traiter les patients atteints de COVID-19 infectés par le nouveau coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, une entreprise pharmaceutique en Chine s’est tournée vers le plasma prélevé sur des personnes qui se sont remises de l’infection pour traiter des patients gravement malades..
Plasma convalescent
Le plasma convalescent a été répertorié comme méthode thérapeutique par la Commission nationale chinoise de la santé.
Les personnes qui se sont rétablies de la maladie COVID-19 auraient des anticorps contre le virus. La perfusion des anticorps à des patients gravement malades devrait améliorer les chances de survie. Le plasma transfusé contient les anticorps.
La société avait collecté du plasma de certains patients récupérés pour préparer des produits thérapeutiques, notamment du plasma de convalescence et des immunoglobulines. Le plasma prélevé sur des patients récupérés à Wuhan depuis le 20 janvier a été donné à plus d’une douzaine de patients. Initialement, trois patients gravement malades dans un hôpital de Wuhan ont reçu un traitement au plasma le 8 février. Depuis, 10 autres patients ont reçu le traitement. Selon Xinhua, les patients qui ont reçu une thérapie au plasma ont montré une amélioration des symptômes cliniques 12-24 heures après avoir reçu la thérapie. L’amélioration des symptômes cliniques comprend des indicateurs clés tels que la saturation en oxygène du sang et une réduction significative des indicateurs inflammatoires.
Ce n’est pas la première fois que le plasma de patients guéris est utilisé pour traiter des personnes infectées par certains virus pour lesquels aucun médicament n’est disponible. Lorsque Ebola a frappé la Guinée, la Sierra Leone et le Libéria en 2014, l’Organisation mondiale de la santé a donné la priorité à l’évaluation du traitement avec du plasma de convalescence dérivé de patients qui se sont remis de la maladie.
Procès antérieurs
Aucun bénéfice n’a été observé chez 84 patients traités par plasma convalescent dans un essai mené chez des patients Ebola en Guinée entre la mi-février et le début août 2015. Les résultats ont été publiés dans Le New England Journal of Medicine.
« La transfusion de jusqu’à 500 ml de plasma convalescent avec des niveaux inconnus d’anticorps neutralisants n’était pas associée à une amélioration significative de la survie », écrivent les auteurs.
Méthode éprouvée
«Le traitement au plasma convalescent est une méthode classique éprouvée dans le temps. Il a été utilisé contre la rougeole, la varicelle et la rage.

C’est la raison pour laquelle la thérapie utilisant le plasma convalescent n’est pas populaire pour d’autres maladies virales », ajoute le Dr John.
Selon lui, au fur et à mesure que la maladie se développe, le corps a déjà commencé à développer des anticorps contre le virus. Infuser du plasma convalescent est essentiellement comme garnir avec plus d’anticorps en espérant qu’une quantité accrue d’anticorps ralentira la progression de la maladie. «Les anticorps dans le plasma se lient au virus et les empêchent de pénétrer dans les cellules. Mais au moment où il est administré, de nombreuses cellules ont déjà été infectées. Par conséquent, la thérapie au plasma convalescente n’est pas très efficace », explique le Dr John.

Low viral load in your body even after survive from covid = negative result.but even after your negative the virus can be reactivated.thats means the virus isnt dead.
So cant trust this method of treatment.
It is a proper method but not a very feasible one because it would require a huge amount of blood plasma in order to extract the antibody and the recovered person may fall ill again and at max a single recovered patient can provide plasma for one to two persons only.
It’d probably work but that’s a hell a lot of donors you’d need.
